What is the difference between a quote and an estimate? +
A quote is a fixed price for clearly defined work - if the customer accepts it, that is what they pay. An estimate is your best guess of the likely cost, which can change as the job becomes clearer. This tool builds a quote, but you can use the notes to flag anything that might move the price, such as access or hidden problems found on the day.
Do I have to add sales tax? +
It depends on your state and the kind of work you do - many services are not taxed, while goods and some services are. If sales tax applies, switch it on and set your rate and the tool shows the net, tax and total figures clearly so the customer can see exactly what they are paying. If it does not apply, leave it off and the total is simply the sum of your line items.
How long should a quote be valid for? +
