Follow any prompts on your phone. If the request is rejected, check the instructions for your service before trying again.

Ring your number from another phone without answering it. Check that the destination receives the call. To turn it off later, dial ##61#.

What to know about call diversion on One NZ
Use the full +64 number
Call divert is already switched on for One NZ On Account mobiles, so you can dial the code straight away. One NZ asks for the full number in the code, written like +6421 and the rest of the number. So 021 555 0123 becomes +64215550123, and the missed-call code is **61*+64215550123#.
Whose voicemail callers hear
Once a divert is on, a caller who reaches voicemail gets the voicemail of the number you diverted to, not yours. One NZ also calls the phone-off divert (**62*) "Divert no reply", which is easy to confuse with the no-answer divert (**61*).
What callers hear on a home phone divert
With the no-answer divert (*92) on a broadband home phone, the phone rings for 10 seconds, then a message tells the caller they are being put through to the other number. When you set up any home phone divert, a voice prompt confirms it is on.
Wireless Broadband and copper home phones
A Wireless Broadband home phone uses the mobile-style codes instead, such as **21* or **61*, then the area code and number, then #. Call 0800 800 966 to add Call Divert to your account first, or out of bundle charges apply. Older copper lines, including business landlines, store numbers in slots: dial 181, a slot from 161 to 169, the number and #, then dial the slot number to switch it on and 160 to switch it off.
Divert calls from your phone's settings
Your phone may also offer call forwarding in its settings, depending on your device and plan. The iPhone Call Forwarding switch sends every call on. Use a supported no-answer option if you want your phone to ring first.
iPhone
- Open Settings, then Apps, then Phone (on older iOS, Settings then Phone).
- Tap Call Forwarding and switch it on. If you use two SIMs, choose your business line first.
- Tap Forward To and enter the number calls should go to.
- Go back. A forwarding icon shows in the status bar while it is on.
Android
- Open the Phone app, tap the three-dot menu, then Settings.
- Tap Calls (or Supplementary services, depending on the phone), then Call forwarding.
- Choose When unanswered so your phone rings first and only missed calls move on.
- Enter the number, tap Turn on, and pick the right SIM if asked.
If the code doesn't work
"Connection problem or invalid MMI code"
The network did not accept the request. Check you have signal, turn off Wi-Fi calling and aeroplane mode, then dial the code again exactly as shown.
"Setting activation failed" or "unsuccessful"
The network refused the divert. Some plans block diverts to other numbers, and some networks want the number in international form. Check the notes on this page, or set it up in your phone settings instead.
Calls still go to voicemail
Voicemail is itself a divert, and only one can be active for each condition. Setting a new divert replaces the voicemail one. If calls still reach voicemail, cancel all diverts and set yours again.
