To forward calls on a CenturyLink home phone, press *72, wait for the stutter tone and dial tone, then dial the number. Hang up once a person or voicemail answers. Press *73 to turn it off.

Check when calls will forward
This code sends all incoming calls to the destination number.

Dial the code
Listen for a dial tone, then press: *72. After the stutter tone and dial tone, dial the number: NUMBER. When a person or voicemail answers, hang up. If the line is busy or nobody answers, repeat the steps.

Check the result
Follow any prompts on your phone. If the request is rejected, check the instructions for your service before trying again.

Test it
Ring your number from another phone. Check that the destination receives the call. To turn it off later, dial *73.

The short ring
Your home phone gives a short ring each time a call is forwarded, so you can tell calls are moving on even though you are not answering them.
Private numbers and Anonymous Call Rejection
If your number is listed as private or anonymous and you are forwarding to a phone that uses Anonymous Call Rejection, press *82 to unblock your number before you set up forwarding.
Rotary phones
On a rotary phone, dial 11 in place of the star key, so *72 becomes 1172.
