How to forward calls on Google Voice
Google Voice has no dial code for call forwarding. In Google Voice settings, add the number as a linked number, verify it, then switch it on under Calls so calls to your Google Voice number ring that phone.
- Set up at voice.google.com
- Up to 6 linked numbers
- Each number must be verified
Set this up in your Google Voice account:
- Go to voice.google.com and click Settings in the top right.
- Under Account, then Linked numbers, click New linked number and enter the number calls should go to.
- Verify it. For a cell phone, click Send code and enter the code Google Voice texts you. For a landline, click Verify by phone, then Call, and Google Voice calls the number with the code.
- Click Calls on the left. Under Incoming calls, then Call forwarding, make sure the linked number is switched on, and turn off any number you do not want calls forwarded to.

- Google says forwarding to an automated system is unsupported. Check your Google Voice setup before relying on forwarding to an AI receptionist.
- You can link up to 6 numbers, and you cannot link a number that is already linked to a Google Voice number.
- Linked numbers are not available to SIP Link users.

Linked numbers ring when you get a call
When call forwarding is set up, calls to your Google Voice number ring your linked phones. Each linked number has its own switch under Call forwarding, so you can stop forwarding to one phone and keep another.
Every number has to be verified
Google Voice sends a verification code to each number you link. Cell phones get the code by text. Landlines get a call from Google Voice that reads the code out, so someone needs to be at that phone to hear it.
Forwarding only some callers
Google Voice also has custom call forwarding, which sends calls from a chosen contact or group to a specific linked number, so only those callers are forwarded there.
