How to forward calls on Grasshopper
Grasshopper has no dial code for call forwarding. In the admin portal, edit the extension, go to Call forwarding numbers, select Add call forwarding, enter the number and set it to Active.

Set this up in your Grasshopper account:
- In the Grasshopper admin portal, go to the extension and select Edit.
- Under Call forwarding numbers, select Add call forwarding.
- In Forward incoming calls to, enter the number and make sure Status is set to Active.
- Choose the working hours and the call handling. Calls will connect as soon as you pick up connects the call with no announcement and no press 1 prompt. Then select Save.

- True Solo accounts can add 1 forwarding number to an extension; other accounts can add up to 15.
- Do not forward calls to your Grasshopper business number, as this creates a loop and calls never reach you.
- To forward to an international, offshore, Alaska or Hawaii number, turn on international calling for your account.
What to know about call forwarding on Grasshopper
The press 1 prompt
With the announced call handling options, whoever answers a forwarded call hears prompts such as "press 1 to accept, press 2 to go to voicemail". Grasshopper suggests a ring time of 30 to 40 seconds so the announcements have time to play; otherwise you may get voicemails with those prompts recorded in them. Calls will connect as soon as you pick up skips the announcements entirely.
Where missed calls go
If you choose Calls will connect as soon as you pick up and the call is not taken, callers are not sent back to Grasshopper to leave a message. They go to the voicemail on the phone you forwarded to.
Forwarding is on from the start
When you open a Grasshopper account, your business number is automatically forwarded to the contact number you gave at sign-up. To send calls somewhere else, add or change the forwarding numbers on the extension.
More than one number
With several forwarding numbers on an extension, Grasshopper can ring them in a set order, or ring them all at once and connect the call to whoever answers first.
